Day 6: Kansas City - Borger, TX

That's right folks, we didn't make it to Amarillo.

sunny 100 °F

We were sad to be left by a beloved crewmember, and even sadder that he had to be at the KC airport at an ungodly early hour.

But now, after getting some decent sleep for the first time in days, we set off to interview a repo man named Anthony to learn some of his secrets for finding people who don’t want to be found.

Then we talked with Shauna’s aunt and uncle about how Shauna was named, what she was like growing up, and what it was like for them to watch her grow, especially in the tough family situation that Shauna describes.

We ate some KC BBQ at Jack Stack, and literally ran into a clown convention at the BBQ joint. We mean it. Seriously. We have video. They were such nice little old lady clowns.

Then in Kansas, just outside of Wichita, we got sucked into a Best Buy for the 15th time. We FINALLY got the club card. What did we buy this time? 2 TB of memory. Exciting. Also, we had to explain that Washington, DC, is not, in fact, in Washington state. Shame on you, Wichita public schools. Unlike you, we believe that children are our future.

Back in the car, we drove like hell for Texas, ending up only making it as far as the lovely Borger by 2am. Which, we realize, is not quite Amarillo, but better there than sleep-driving.

Finally, we also changed New Rhonda’s name to New Vanna, as we head closer to Los Angeles. Like any aspiring actress, "Vanna," is aging quickly - we've already added 3300 miles - and is remaking her image with a new stage name before arriving in LA and meeting the WoF crew.
